What To Expect

Location

I work in a peaceful garden room at my home address in Chalfont St Peter, Buckinghamshire with space to park outside.  Due to steps leading to my room, wheelchair access is not possible. I will send you information before our first session with my address and directions.

Sessions

Sessions are 50 minutes and are generally face to face but can take place via Zoom® video conferencing or by telephone if you prefer. I find a joined up approach between myself and parents/carers is the most beneficial when working with children which involves more communication and sharing of strategies.

Confidentiality

Confidentiality is a cornerstone of the trust needed for counselling to be effective and this applies to children, young people as well as adults. In an initial session with a child or young person, I will ask that a parent/carer joins for the first part of our session so that there is both understanding and transparency around the boundaries of confidentiality.

Fees

My fees are are £60 a session for over 13s and £65 for under 13s. Some reduced fee places are available for under 18s. You can choose to pay either with cash or a cheque, by debit/credit card during our session or by bank transfer before attending the session. I will send you banking information, along with my address, before our first session.

Booking an appointment

Email, telephone or complete the enquiry form and we can arrange to talk things through together. As finding the right counsellor for you is important, your call or email will give you the chance to explain what support you are looking for and to ask any questions you may have so you can get to know me and how I work a little before we meet.
I am contactable by phone between 9am and 7pm weekdays and if I am unavailable, please leave a voice mail and I will return your call as soon I am free or send me an email.

Cancellations

Sometimes it is necessary to cancel or reschedule an appointment.  This is usually possible provided 24 hours’ notice is given.  For missed or cancelled appointments with less than 24 hours’ notice, there will be a charge of £30 and for missed sessions with no notice given, the full fee will be charged. I will give you as much notice of holidays or of illness as I can.

Number of Sessions

Depending on your needs, a few sessions may be enough to make a real difference or you may find a longer term counselling relationship more valuable. You can decide week by week so it is flexible so no need to commit in advance to a number of sessions.

Security

To reassure you, I hold the following:

  • Enhanced DBS Certificate from the Disclosure and Barring Service to show I have no criminal convictions and am able to work with children and vulnerable adults
  • Public liability and indemnity insurance through the Howden Insurance Group
  • Registration with the ICO, in line with regulations for any business processing personal or contact information and comply with the 2018 General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR)
